An adjunct faculty member at Pima College in Tucson, AZ, Sheila Bender has been writing about and teaching creative writing since 1980. Her many books include A New Theology: Turning to Poetry in a Time of Grief, Writing and Publishing Personal Essays and Writing in a Convertible with the Top Down, co-authored with Christi Killien. Her articles on writing have appeared in Writer's Digest magazine and The Writer magazine. She created content for Lifejournal for Writers software and teaches online writing workshops through the International Association for Journal Writing, Writers.com and her own instructional site, WritingItReal.com, a world of tools for people who write from personal experience. She holds a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin, an MAT in Secondary Education from Keane University, and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington.
